Sunday In Vienna

I took this one in Vienna last summer. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and Carrie and I had just arrived in Vienna after an exhausting couple of days in Budapest. Our hostel was pretty dumpy and spirits were down a bit. We ended up in this lovely park and we just laid out on the grass, read our books and relaxed.

It’s important to slow down sometimes when you’re on the move.

The Best Camera

I’m a bit of a sucker for camera and photo apps on the iPhone. (Some might say I’m a bit of a sucker for pretty much ANY app, actually.)

In any case, got a tip on an app modestly called “The Best Camera,” which features the ability to snap photos in app, then make some creative decisions by applying filters. There’s some basic stuff like “lighten” and “darken,” along with a few interestingly titled filters with names like “Candy” and “Slate,” that do a little more complex rendering with the touch of a button.

So far, the majority of photo apps I’ve tried have been fun diversions, but a little useless for any actual purpose. This one adds the ability to post to Facebook and Twitter, along with the app author’s personal photo sharing site, thebestcamera.com. You can also layer filters, which is a nice touch.

I just snapped this pic and applied two filters: Vignette and Paris. The results look pretty nice to my eye. Thus far, if anything is going to overtake the default Camera app, this is probably the one.

What do you think? Anyone else try The Best Camera yet?

Zumi Study

It was getting late by the time I got home and snuck the Zumi’s CR2 batteries into its tiny little frame. The light was getting a bit low, but I snuck out and snapped a few pictures outside, plus a few inside.
